The Checklist

I once lived with two girls who were engaged and they both used a wedding planning checklist that they got from ldsweddings.com. The list worked great for my roommates and is working great for me too!

The website your "to-do list" broken into chunks depending on how soon your wedding date is. They have checklists for six months, four months, and two months. We are using the two month checklist, even though we have three months to plan it all. Here's the checklist:

8 Weeks Ahead
X Set a date
May 19th
X Schedule temple time
10:00 am
X Determine a budget and how expenses will be shared
I really don't feel comfortable putting that online. :)
X Decide on a color scheme
"Ocean Blue" and black
X Select and reserve a place for reception
Pima Stake Center and St. David chapel
X Select wedding consultant
I'm not going to have an official wedding consultant, but Creighton and my roommate have been a lot of help. So have our moms. Moms are the bestest.
X Select attendants for bride and groom
My sisters, his sister, and one of my cousins will be my bridesmaids (5 total). A friend, a cousin, his brother, and my brother are the groomsmen (4 total). No maid of honor or best man.
Select caterer and menu
So clueless about this! We'll do it ourselves, but I don't know what we'll do!
X Arrange for photographer
Kyle Lauritzen. We love his work, and his prices are amazing!
X Arrange for wedding breakfast location
I'm really not sure what this is-so I don't think we'll have one.

7 Weeks Ahead
X Begin compiling guests lists (temple guests, wedding breakfast guests, and reception guests)
Select wedding gown, veil, and accessories
I've got the gown and veil! No accessories yet.
Arrange for florist
I have one in mind. Daisies all the way!
X Take engagement photos

6 Weeks Ahead
Determine sizes of bridesmaids and select dresses and accessories
I have the dresses, which still need to be altered, and some of the accessories.
Book reception entertainment
We're thinking of doing a slide-show and music. Cliche-yes. Inexpensive-YES! Fun-I think so!
Have dress altered and temple ready
Arrange for necessary rental items
Order invitations and thank you cards
Have mothers shop for their dresses
Select groom's ring and order engraving
X Find a place to live
His summer job will take care of this. Woot woot!
Order cakes and candies

5 Weeks Ahead
Make arrangements for transportation
Finish compiling guest lists including addresses
Plan accommodations for out-of-town guests
Plan honeymoon and make arrangements (Get Passports, if necessary)
We are going to Orlando!
Arrange for health, auto, life, and renters insurance

4 Weeks Ahead
Address invitations and announcements
Mail invitations
Register for gifts
Ask people to help at reception (i.e. guest book, take gifts, etc.)
Order favors
Arrange for videographer
X Have bridal portraits taken
Not going to do this
Arrange for tuxedos
Check newspaper for announcement deadline
Write thank you's for gifts as soon as you receive them

3 Weeks Ahead
Buy accessories such as cake knives and servers, guest book, and pen
X Arrange for time off work
Purchase gift for fiance
Make appointment with hairstylist (if doing own hair, practice with veil)
Buy gifts for attendants
X Get marriage license (no sooner than 30 days in advance)
Shop for furniture for new home

2 Weeks Ahead
Meet with photographer and videographer to discuss special shots you would like
Provide reception entertainment with a list of music
Double check reservations with florist, caterer, photographer, videographer, entertainment, and honeymoon accommodations

1 Week Ahead
Plan seating arrangements, if used
Change address with post office
Pack for honeymoon
Get manicure, pedicure
Arrange for utilities, etc. for new home
Groom's haircut
Provide caterer with final guest count

On Your Wedding Day
Don't forget breakfast
Give yourself a lot of time to get ready
Be sure to have rings and marriage license
Take a fix-it kit with you (include safety pins, needle and thread, aspirin, bobby pins, breath mints, panty hose, makeup, etc.)
