The Story of Anika and Creighton

Creighton and I met on January 1, 2011. I was in Thatcher visiting some friends for New Years. On New Year's Day not much was going on, so I invented a new holiday. I called it "Fearless Day" and said that everyone had to do whatever they wanted to, and they couldn't let fear hold them back. I told Janelle that she had to ask a boy on a date for Fearless Day and Jasmine and I had to conquer our life-long fear of eating too much chocolate while watching Monk. Fortunately, Janelle didn't go for that and not only asked a guy on a date, but set Jasmine and me up on blind-dates as well.

Janelle suggested that I go out with Creighton Brown, so I got on her Facebook account, stalked him, and then let her know that I was fine with going out with Creighton.

For our date we all went to Walmart and bought "exotic" cookie ingredients. Then we went back to Jasmine and Janelle's and made cookies without using a recipe. (There is still some debate on whether Creighton and Anika or Janelle and Dallin made the best cookies.) We ate pizza, ate cookies, played games, and talked and talked. Then Creighton asked me if I wanted to get hot chocolate at Denny's, so we ditched everyone else and went.

It was an amazing date! We talked nonstop. I really liked him and danced around the living room singing songs from "My Fair Lady" and Taylor Swift after he dropped me off. I couldn't decide if he liked me or not because he didn't get my number. (He says he did like me at that point and the not getting my number part was an accident.)

The next day we sat by each other at church and he finally got my number. It was seven weeks from our first date to our engagement. We got engaged on February 18, 2011 and we're going to get married on May 19, 2011.

(Insert cheesy sayings about how much I love Creighton.) Trust me, I love him like crazy. Trust me, you do not need to hear about that.

If you have any more questions about it, please email me or ask me on Facebook and I'll be sure to blog about your questions!`

  1. You are an excellent writer! I loved reading your narrative of how we met, although I'm pretty sure that there is no debate over who's cookies were better-we totally dominated that one! I love you!
